Flip Flop Festival

As you know, West Virginia has fantastic, outdoor adventure opportunities. The Flip Flop festival brings together all WV adventure lovers for two days of fun. This event is no charge, promotes "flip-flop thru-hikes" of the Appalachian Trail. Fun Fact, this event has absolutely nothing to do with footwear.

The Flip Flop Festival will be held on April 27-28, 2019. This event, sponsored by Harpers Ferry Town Foundation's Trail & Town Alliance, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and the towns of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar, WV, promotes  "flip-flop thru-hikes." This encourages hikers to use Harpers Ferry as their starting point for the trail. This version of thru-hiking aids in conservation of the trail while avoiding the crowds of hikers that begin their journey in Georgia.

This festival is free of charge to anyone who would like to visit.

Food and Entertainment

While bands have not yet been announced, the Flip Flop Festival promises entertainment on both days of the event. As for food, the website states that "There will be both commercial and not-for-profit vendors at the Odd Fellows Lodge and Mather Lawn directly behind the ATC office, including food and music. There may also be another chance at the Food and Craft Beer Tasting." Along with these promises, "Festival Quest is a seek-and-stamp scavenger hunt where participants seek out certain locations throughout town and obtain a unique stamp."
