1. Black bears don't always have black fur. They can have a variety of hair colors including; cinnamon, blonde, brown, and bluish-white.

2. Black bears can have 1-6 cubs with an average of 2. 

3. Male black bears can exceed over 500-600 pounds.

4. Female black bears give birth every two years. The mother looks after the cubs for two years before they are ready to live on their own.

5. The average black bear can live for ten years but can reach the age of 30 in the wild.
